Kessler Studios mosaics are a contemporary play of diverse earth materials, assembled in a collage fashion. From a distance, the materials soften into a rich artistic statement. Closer viewing offers a delightful tactile experience and insight into the creative process.

Mosaics can be applied to wall surfaces, set into flooring, and integrated into water and planter features. Mosaics can be used in both interior and exterior locations, wet or dry environments, and can endure temperature extremes undaunted. Previous commissions include medical facilities, government buildings, liturgical settings, libraries, private residences, universities and athletic complexes.

Materials include stone, marble, glass smalti or chunks, real gold/silver/copper leaf fused inside glass, cakes, tiles and hand made ceramics. Textures vary from the gloss of polished marble, the many facets of smalti pieces, the reflective sheen of metal leaf sealed inside hand made glass, to rough cuts of stone. The diverse materials in a finished mosaic catch the light individually, making it appear to dance across the surface as the viewer changes perspective.

Mosaic materials for walls are usually selected for maximum textural effect. Floor applications require material selection and an installation technique that produce a smooth surface, one that is safe for pedestrian traffic. Mortared securely into place, mosaic is a permanent, highly durable, virtually maintenance free artistic medium. Having been integrated into landscape and architectural settings for centuries, durability is well documented.
